AI Resources for EUI Researchers
AI Resources for EUI Researchers
A practical starting point for using artificial intelligence thoughtfully, responsibly, and effectively in research.
Independently maintained by Roberto Valli and Filip Olsson
Where would you like to begin?
Artificial intelligence is reshaping how scholars learn and conduct their research. The EUI’s Department of Social and Political Sciences has sponsored two Part-time Assistant Professor positions to help the community adopt AI responsibly and effectively.
On this website, you can book a consultation about your research project and find guidance and resources on AI. If you feel something is missing, please leave an issue on GitHub.
Prepare for a consultation
Find out what we can help with, what to bring, and how to book a one-to-one conversation about your research.
Check EUI-specific guidance
Start with EUI rules and resources on responsible use, data protection, disclosure, and research integrity.
Understand AI and LLMs
Learn what these tools do, where they are useful, how they fail, and how to assess their output.
Use AI in a research workflow
Think through validation, reproducibility, documentation, and the additional care required when AI becomes part of a method.
Four principles to carry with you
You remain responsible
AI can assist with a task, but responsibility for what you submit, publish, or use in an analysis remains yours.
Protect sensitive material
Check confidentiality, consent, data-protection, and service-provider conditions before sharing research material with a tool.
Verify the output
Fluent answers can still be wrong. Check factual claims, references, summaries, code, and transformations against appropriate sources or tests.
Document consequential uses
When AI contributes to research outputs or methods, keep enough information to explain, assess, and where possible reproduce what you did.
About this resource
This website is maintained independently by Filip Olsson and Roberto Valli, the EUI Part-time Assistant Professors of AI. It is intended for EUI researchers and brings together practical advice, consultation information, and links to authoritative EUI sources.
The site complements—not replaces—formal EUI policies, your supervisor’s guidance, or advice from the relevant EUI services. Where a statement summarises an institutional rule, the source is identified so that you can consult it directly.
